Recently PCI has enabled
automated virus and SPAM filtering on our mail servers. These options will
allow you to protect your computer and automatically identify junk mail that
may have ended up in your Inbox. To enable filtering please have your e-mail
address and password ready and go to: https://ssl1.pciwest.net/filterprefs/prefs.cgi.
Be sure to login with your
full email address and password and follow the instructions included on the
page to enable virus and/or SPAM filtering. We have enabled virus filtering by
default to help lessen the effects of recently release viruses that are
plaguing the internet. Virus checking is not always going to catch all viruses
so please use good judgment when opening ANY email attachment.
Our SPAM filtering system
works by "tagging" email messages with [SPAM] as the first part of
the subject line. It does not automatically delete it. This means that you
still have to download the SPAM messages and setup filters in your mail client
to file them under a different folder. If you would like to delete any SPAM
messages before you download them thus saving you time in downloading your mail
please go to: https://ssl1.pciwest.net/deletespam/.
Please be aware that any
message filtering may cause LEGITIMATE mail to be rejected and/or lost. PCI
cannot take any responsibility for mail that is lost as a result of message
Q. The spam filter is
catching mail that I need. Can I change the settings so won't touch this
A. The spam filter uses
heuristics in order to determine spam messages. It compares incoming mail
with samples of good and bad mail messages and assigns each message a
score. In the configuration page you have the choice of five trigger
levels of spam filtering. Changing these can help the spam filtering
properly determine the difference between valid e-mail and spam e-mail messages
Q. The spam filter is
constantly marking mail from a particular e-mail address as spam. Can you mark
that e-mail address so that it will stop this?
A. The spam filter only
looks at the content of the mail message and does not look at where the e-mail
came from. If you find that the filter is catching a lot a mail and marking it
as spam inappropriately please log back into the spam filtering option webs
site and set the spam filter to a lower level.
Q. I want you to turn the
spam filtering system off on my e-mail.
A. The spam filtering
system is a user configurable system, as such the option to turn this system on
and off is available to you. Please see the information above so that you
can login to the configuration site your self to turn this system off.
Q. I can't seem to log in
to the spam filtering system. What's wrong?
A. The most common reason
for people to not be able to log in to the spam filtering system is because
they are not using their full e-mail address. Another common reason is that
people are not using proper case on their username or password, in most cases
they should be in all lowercase. Please double check and make sure you
are entering this information correctly. If you continue to have problems
please contact technical support by calling us or by e-mail. (Please note: we
can not release passwords via e-mail, you must call the Billing Department
between Monday - Friday.)
